- Commercial Treadmills
The treadmill is one of the original
initially introduced by
Trotter (now, known as
Cybex). Recent additions such as "flex decks" and "decline" abilities have taken the grandfather of indoor workouts to a new level.
Now, treadmills by the above
and a few others are far more comfortable and exercise sessions can be customized for each individual. Whether one is walking or running, for endurance or rehabilitation, the programs and equipment offered today will certainly provide an enjoyable climate and great results.
- Commercial Steppers
Stair steppers or stair climbers were originally conceived in the 1980s
Stairmaster to offer a low impact workout to those looking to burn calories and strengthen or tone the lower body. Stair
Star Trac and others have evolved to give the user an entertaining and effective experience. Features like heart rate monitors, virtual reality screens, exercise programs, and graphical displays inject fun and excitement as well as challenge the user. Also, new upgrades and design like the
Versaclimber, and "horn" shaped handles have increased options and comfort.
- Commercial Ellipticals
The elliptical trainer is considered by many to be the best cardiovascular piece on the market. Ellipticals offer a "no impact" workout with many programs and options to make the exercise experience more enjoyable.
Reebok and a few others have paved the way and done the
research to bring these commercial grade elliptical trainers to
market. Many pieces also offer "crosstraining" or arm motion. These crosstrainers allow the user to use the arm motion to further the effects of his or her workout. The elliptical trainer or crosstrainer is an innovative addition to any home or fitness center looking for the best and most futuristic fitness program.
- Commercial Bicycles
Exercise bikes or stationary bikes have been around for ages...beginning
with the Lifecycle by
Life Fitness and followed by others like
Star Trac and
Tectrix (now, known as
Cybex). These pieces are excellent for strengthening and toning the lower body and increasing caloric burn all without any heavy "impact" to the joints or muscles. Today, exercise bikes are equipped with heart rate monitors, televisions, virtual reality, and even internet access offered as options to keep one busy while working out. New types of indoor cycling have come to be
quite popular, as well. "Spin" programs offer an enjoyable group setting to motivate and allow for some fun in the gym. Regardless of the setting or goal, exercise cycling is effective and energizing.
